Buru Energy (ASX:BRU) has received regulatory approval to commence its Rafael Gas Project appraisal campaign in Western Australia.

The program will include drilling the Rafael B appraisal well and re-entering Rafael 1 for further testing.

These activities aim to support independent reserves certification, a key step toward the company’s Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2026.

CEO Thomas Nador said the approval marks a major milestone, keeping the company on track for first production in 2028.

The campaign is expected to unlock long-term gas supply for the Kimberley region and underpin the company’s transition into a foundation gas business.
